June Sephora @ Play!

This review is so late! June and July have super busy! This months box was all hits! Very little to complain about! The only thing I might complain about is the Sephora @ Play box itself. Over the past few months I have started to get some repeats. Have you every experienced this? I am wondering if I email them if they will pay attention. Sephora generally has phenomenal customer service. I am thinking it is worth a try. Anyway, back to the review!!

Belif ◊ The True Cream Aqua Bomb

Product Claims: A reviving moisturizer that fights dull skin with a burst of hydration.

My Review: I will never complain about receiving this moisturizer. I love this moisturizer. The hydration it delivers without making my face greasy is perfection.

Clinique ◊ Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lips, Lashes, & Lips

Product Claims: A gentle formula that removes makeup without tugging, stinging, or irritating skin.

My Review: This stuff is the bomb.com. I have recently gotten into wearing waterproof mascara and no matter what kind of oil I use sometimes I cannot get all of the mascara residue off my lashes. This is magic.

Heart Status: ♥♥♥♥

Alterna Haircare ◊ Caviar Anti-Aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist

Product Claims: A multitasking hair mist that uses a plumping complex to create twice as much volume instantly.

My Review: It’s a good product. I have received this numerous times and I do enjoy using it, but I have found things I love more to offer volume than to spend the money on a full size. It lives up to the product claims. I just don’t feel like it stands out or competes with my Monat products.

Heart Status: ♥♥♥

Milk Makeup ◊ Kush Mascara in Boom Black

Product Claims: A conditioning mascara that uses cannabis oil to nurture lashes while heart shaped fibers add clump free volume.

My Review: This mascara is really amazing. Delivers amazing volume without any flaking. It does not flake or run throughout the day. The applicator is so full it never leaves clumps behind.

Heart Status: ♥♥♥

Too Faced ◊ Melted Matte Liquefied Long Wear Matte Lipstick in Queen B

Product Claims: A long lasting, lightweight lipstick that goes no like a gloss, but delivers bold, full color.

My Review: This matte lipstick is beautiful. The application is seamless. The only issue is it is long wearing as long as you don’t eat and drink. It does not pass the eat and drink test. The formula is fantastic and the color is gorgeous.

Heart Status: ♥♥♥

Prada ◊ Candy Sugar Pop

Product Claims: Fruity and delicious, this scent story of apple, bergamot, and vanilla has a sweet ending that’s anything but ordinary.

My Review: This fragrance is delightful. It’s light and perfect for summer. My only complaint is it doesn’t last all day. The scent fades relatively quickly.

This month has some fun items and a few repeats, but all in all I was thrilled to try some new things!

June Boxy Charm Review!

This month was my first month getting my Boxy Charm. A close friend of mine was visiting and would not stop raving about this subscription box. To be honest, I had actually never heard of it. I thought I was familiar with most of the beauty subscription services. I must have been living under a rock!! How did I not know that there was a subscription service out there that allowed you to get five full size products for $22 a month!! I signed up immediately! Have to say my first Boxy Charm did not disappoint!

Alamar Reina Del Caribe ◊ Eyeshadow Palette

Product Claims: This palette features 8 highly opaque shades, reminiscent of the beauty and culture of Cuba. Dive into the pigments and pearls found in the intense metallics, or ground your look with the warm richness of the creamy mattes. For a more intense application, refer to the shade names that feature a water droplet that can be used with a wet brush—the sun symbol, for application with a dry brush.

My Review: It lives up to the claims. The shadows are super pigmented! I wish there were a few more transition shades, but it is a fun palette and the quality is there!

Luxie ◊  3 Piece Flawless Complexion Set

Product Claims: Handcrafted makeup brushes with high quality, soft synthetic bristles using hypoallergenic, vegan, and cruelty-free materials
Precision Foundation Face Brush 660 – With less bristle density, this brush is perfect for applying both powder and liquid foundations to create a soft, diffused makeup look
Tapered Highlighting Face Brush 522 – This fluffy, tapered brush allows you to seamlessly apply your favorite powder highlighter to the high points of your face or set your under eye makeup.
Duo Fiber Powder Brush 516 – Use this ultra-soft duo fiber brush to apply cream or powder makeup for a softer, flawless finish

My Review: These brushes were nothing special. I will gladly stick with my Morphe brushes. I mean, they’re okay. I would never pay the $42 price tag, however. The brushes are just meh. I feel like ELF Cosmetics makes some better brushes and the price tag is a lot easier to swallow.

Heart Status: ♥

Battington Monroe ◊ Silk Lashes

Product Claims: The 3-D multi-layered Battington Monroe Silk Lashes enhance your look with moderate length, adding a volume and length to your lashes. They’re handmade with 100% silk and impressive durability, allowing up to 25 applications with proper care.

My Review: I LOVE these lashes. They’re feather light and do not take long to adjust to on your eyes. They lasted all day. They claim that you can reuse them up to 25 times, but I have always had issues with wearing lashes more than once. I am sure that is on me, though.

Heart Status: ♥♥♥

Sol de Janeiro ◊ Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Product Claims: Brazilian Bum Bum Cream is inspired by the Brazilians favorite feature – the bum bum! It’s creamy and rich in Guarana, a native Amazonian plant whose fruit contains one of the most potent forms of caffeine. The fast-absorbing texture contains just enough mica to add a perfect Brazilian glow, as the formula helps your body look and feel its smoothest and tightest. Pistachio caramel leaves skin delicately fragranced.

My Review: I am obsessed with this bum bum cream. The smell takes you straight to vacation. It’s rich and perfect for combating dry skin in the summer from all the sun exposure. It is hands down one of the best body creams on the market.

Heart Status: ♥♥♥♥♥

Jonteblu ◊ Water Proof Eyeliner

Product Claims: The 100% vegan, Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil glides on smooth for an elevated eye look. Use along the upper lash line or water line

My Review: Not a fan. The pigmentation is not there. I feel like I have to bare down too hard to get a good color payoff. When working around your eyes that is that last thing you want to worry about.

Heart Status: ♥♥

Ofra ◊ Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick
Product Claims: OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick is a one-step, full lip color that does not feather. These vibrant colors will give you a vivacious new look. They are creamy and soft in texture, moisturizing the lips and creating a long lasting lipstick effect. No need to use lipliner, this liquid lipstick gives a beautiful edge to your lip look!
My Review: This liquid lipstick is MAGIC! It lasted for over 12 hours!! The applicator makes the application so precise. There was absolutely no bleeding or feathering and my lips weren’t moisture deprived! I want one in every color!
Heart Status: ♥♥♥♥♥
For my first Boxy Charm I could not be more thrilled! Almost all of the products were hits. I cannot wait for July’s Boxy Charm!
Scale: ♥♥♥♥♥= I CANNOT wait to purchase!                                                                            ♥♥♥♥=Would potentially add to my collection                                                                                ♥♥♥=Might purchase if it was on sale                                                                                                  ♥♥=Nothing special or stand out power                                                                                                    ♥= I will be saving my money

Saturday In The Park

Saturday In The Park

Saturday in the park,
I think it was the Fourth of July
Saturday in the park,
I think it was the Fourth of July
People dancing, people laughing
A man selling ice cream
Singing Italian songs
Everybody is another
Can you dig it (yes, I can)
And I’ve been waiting such a long time
For Saturday
Another day in the park
I think it was the Fourth of July
Another day in the park
I think it was the Fourth of July
People talking, really smiling
A man playing guitar
And singing for us all
Will you help him change the world
Can you dig it (yes, I can)
And I’ve been waiting such a long time
For today
Slow motion riders fly the colors of the day
A bronze man still can tell stories his own way
Listen children all is not lost, all is not lost, oh no, no
Funny days in the park
Every day’s the Fourth of July
Funny days in the park
Every day’s the Fourth of July
People reaching, people touching
A real celebration
Waiting for us all
If we want it, really want it
Can you dig it (yes, I can)
And I’ve been waiting such a long time
For the day, yeah yeah

One of my favorite bands of all time is Chicago. One of their  popular songs is Saturday In The Park. This song always reminds of July 4th. Mainly because it is the lyrics to one of the first lines of the song! “Saturday in the park, I think it was the fourth of July.” The entire time we were taking photos in this gorgeous park in Raleigh, North Carolina I couldn’t get it out of my head. It was the soundtrack to my photo shoot. “People dancing, people laughing. A man selling ice cream.” If you have never heard this song I suggest you YouTube it immediately! If you are familiar with this song. You’re welcome. Because you will now have it stuck in your head for the next week.

I never wear shorts. You can ask any of my friends and most of them will tell you they’ve never seen me in shorts. I have always been self conscious of my legs, but I am working to embrace what God has given me. I completely acknowledge I am the one who put myself in this predicament with my weight. But you can’t wait until you are where you think should be to start living. You will miss out on life. So in short, I am wearing shorts! These shorts are the first pair of shorts I have purchased for myself in years. I purchased them from Cato Fashions. I find Cato has some of the best jeans and shorts for women who might be carrying around a little extra junk in their trunk. My white t-shirt also came from Cato Fashions. My Necklace is an old find on the clearance rack at Walmart. The key to my heart is not through my stomach. It is through a sale. I purchased my kimono at Walmart of all places! I could not find my exact kimono on the website but HERE is one very similar! My shoes are my go to G by Guess Backer Lace Up Quilted Sneaker. You can find them HERE!

Another day in the park. We had such a fun time exploring Nash Square Park. The sights and sounds were truly lyrics straight out of a song. Can you dig it? Yes, I can.

Oral hygiene is very important, as I am sure you already know. Good oral hygiene  goes beyond just the surface cosmetic reasons. Good oral hygiene can affect your over all health. I am not a science major by any means, but I worry about my dental health on the regular.

Recently I was contacted by Violife and asked if I was interested in trying their product. In 2004, Violife was launched initially as a family run business and have chosen to maintain a close knit community within their rapidly growing company. Violife graciously sent me the Slim Sonic Classic Gift Set to try and review. The slim sonic toothbrush is a compact battery operated toothbrush. This lightweight            tooth brush is perfect for your travel bag, gym bag, purse or every day use.

I loved the functionality of the toothbrush. It is perfect for the on the go person.         The subtle, yet powerful vibrations help to get a deep clean without making your mouth go numb (am I the only one who has this issue with power toothbrushes?)             The sleek design is fun and convenient. The stylish caps prevent germs from reaching the bristles of the toothbrush, but the vented cap enables the toothbrush to dry out and prevents the toothbrush from growing bacteria.

I thoroughly loved and continue to love using my Violife Sonic Slim Toothbrush.              I highly recommend it to anyone who is concerned with good oral hygiene and enjoy super fun design!! To learn more about their amazing products visit  Violife HERE!

Gorgeous hair, Don’t care.

My hair has always been my crown. For as long as I can remember people have always noticed my hair. It’s a unique shade of auburn. I have never dyed my hair for fear of being pummeled by friends and family who have always told me not to. Even my hair stylist won’t let me color my hair. I wear it with pride. It’s my thing. It’s what people notice first when they meet me.  For the most part I have always worn it long, for the exception of a few very unfortunate haircuts when I was “going through a phrase.”

A sweet friend of mine is a market partner for Monat. When she was telling me about these products I had heard of them, but had no idea what they were and what the company was all about. Being a beauty blogger, I am always trying out new products. I love to review products even if they’re terrible! I will take one for the team and do you a solid! I’ll break out or become a greasy mess so you don’t have to! If you don’t know what Monat is, here’s a quick run down. Monat is naturally based, anti aging solutions for your hair. They have customized systems to meet your specific hair needs. My friend, Jenn took a look at my hair, asked me a few questions and loaded me up with products to try.

I was sent home with the Soothing Shampoo and Conditioner, the Moxie Magnifying Mousse, Rejuvabeads Split End Mender, and the Champ Conditioning Dry Shampoo.  Jenn recommended washing my hair twice. She warned my that the first few times I washed my hair it might not feel smooth, more than likely it will feel grimey because the shampoo would be breaking down the chemicals in my hair and stripping it of all the unnecessary oils. The first time I used the products my hair felt like second day hair. You know, when you washed it the day before and it gets a little oily from touching it so you have to spray it with a ton of dry shampoo because washing it two days in a row is exhausting.

As a chronic hot tools user I was very excited to try the Rejuvabeads Split End Mender. I tend to blow dry and straighten my hair at least every other day. I do not have have cute air dry hair. I am constantly fighting the split end battle. My hair has a lot of natural volume, but I can also turn into Mufasa in a second. Frizz is not my friend and living in the coastal Carolina’s I tend to rock the Mufasa look a lot. (If you don’t get this reference please comment below. We will have a Disney education) Because I am a southern belle at heart I love a lot of volume in my crown so I used the Moxie Magnifying Mousse to give me that extra oomph.

I committed to using the system for two weeks. Holy Gorgeous Hair, Batman! My hair had never been silkier, never been this frizz free. Monat made me feel like a hair model. I may or may not have had a few extra hair flips in my daily routine. I tend to have an oily scalp and because I have swoop bangs that get in my face I am constantly pushing them behind my ear. They always end up oily and dirty by the end of the day. With this Monat system I did not have that issue at all. The Champ Conditioning Dry Shampoo is hands down the best dry shampoo I have ever tried. It didn’t leave a white cast on my hair and didn’t make my hair feel heavy or like I had a pound of flour sitting on my scalp.

I fell in love with Monat so much I chose to become a VIP customer. That means I can have my product systems flex shipped to me when I need them. It is my dream to wake up every day feeling like a hair model. If you are someone who wants to take care of their hair, and  wants to use the naturally based products I truly think you will fall in love with Monat. I did!!

If you would like more information please feel free to reach out to my personal        Monat Market Partner HERE

Comment and let me know if you have ever tried Monat! I want to know what you think!

Lipstick, Mascara and Rock ‘N Roll

Sometimes fashion calls for a risk. Sometimes that risk is way too risky and you end up looking like someone from the future. Other times, you rock it out and nail it. This is one of those times. Recently, I checked something major off my bucket list. I got to see Journey and Def Leppard in concert. Besides Journey being my second all time favorite band, I was so thrilled cause I got to wear something completely out of my norm.

Wearing my favorite pair of Torrid boyfriend jeans, I added this super cute grey floral tee from Just My Size. I bought it here on Amazon

I purchased this super cute plaid button up from Torrid a few months ago. Plaid is not my normal at all, but I felt I was able to release my inner rocker for just a little while. I finished off the outfit with a black velvet choker and Guess lace up sneakers.

I loved everything about this look. I loved the vampy lips and the smudged eyeliner. That night was perfect. This outfit was perfect.

Don’t settle for a “Brody”

Dating has never been my skill. I have had plenty of first dates and some second dates. Beyond that nothing has ever really happened of significance. Just not my strong suit. I spend most of my time in the friend zone. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the friend zone. I am actually very happy and comfortable in that zone. Sometimes ending up in the friend zone can be a gift. Sometimes the guy you thought was so perfect for you ends up being a huge jerk face. Having the separation can give clarity to the situation. Sometimes you end up with a really great friend. The problem isn’t the friend zone. The problem is the dating friend zone.

When I was in high school I met this guy, named Brody*. Brody had all the qualities most girls would desire in a boyfriend. He was funny, kind, attractive, had strong morals, and came from a wonderful family. He was polite and genuinely friendly to everyone. He checked all the boxes for me. On paper we made sense, but we had a major problem. He was not attracted or interested in me in that way at all. When I say at all I mean AT ALL. Maybe I should have thanked Brody for being so honest and upfront with me. He wasn’t trying to hurt my feelings he just wanted to make sure I knew where the line was drawn. With lines drawn, I thought I accepted this fact and we became good friends.

Eventually the crush and infatuation subsided. We settled into a comfortable non-relationship, relationship. Meaning, we had all the characteristics of a relationship without having “all the feels.” Or at least I thought. We talked everyday. If we didn’t see one another we texted and talked on the phone. Like, actually TALKED on the phone. If facetime had been a thing then I am sure we would have done that as well. We talked about everything and every topic. We argued and then apologized (well, I apologized to him) We spent time together, I met his family and he met my family. It was comfortable.

One day it all stopped. Brody met a girl. I was invisible. So many unreturned calls and texts. I found out about their relationship on Facebook. I was hurt. My feelings were hurt. It was almost like I was mourning the loss of our friendship. Thanks to Facebook I didn’t have to miss a moment of their budding romance. They say time heals all wounds. But what if you just settle into a new normal? What if those wounds aren’t really healed? I settled into the new normal and went about my life. Eventually Brody and his girlfriend broke up and Brody was back. I wish I had called him on his actions then, but I was too excited to have my friend back. So we fell back into out old normal. Like nothing happened until the same thing happened……again.

For a few years Brody and I had two modes. We were either best friends or strangers. There was no in between. I unfortunately allowed the cycle to continue. I remember just being so excited when he would come back and we would be friends again. I was too afraid to say anything. I was too afraid I would seem overly attached or he would find out how I really felt about him. Fear kept me in this vicious cycle for years. I dated a little, but there was a small part of my that always held out hope that he would wake up one day and realize we could be something.

Brody never realized what I always wanted him to. One day I woke up. I realized I had wasted all of this time hoping for something that was never going to work. Even if he had decided that I was it for him he was no longer it for me. Not because I found someone else, but because I found myself. I found that I was wasn’t someones second choice. I am not a “filler girl” meaning I am not here to fill someones time until someone else comes along. This doesn’t just have to be for romantic relationships. Any relationship that makes you feel like you are their second choice is not a healthy one. Know your worth. Know your value. God didn’t make you to be someones filler girl. So don’t settle and definitely don’t settle for a Brody.

*Names have been changed to protect the individual. He may have been dumb, but Brody is not an awful person*
